Embracing Life Program - Facilities and Plans for Expansion
Facilities and Plans for Expansion
The second critical component of the Embracing Life Program is providing facilities that nurture the creation of multidisciplinary teams and provide dedicated space for physician training, surgical procedures and ongoing care. UPA has already completed construction of the ELP Surgical Unit at Al-Shiekh Zayed Hospital in Ramallah and will begin construction of the Gaza ELP Center by the end of 2016 in partnership with Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, a private hospital in Gaza. The Center will include an operating room, a laboratory, a dental clinic, an audiology room and a speech and language therapy room, and will serve as a central location for multidisciplinary craniofacial care, medical training, and research.
Additionally, UPA has arranged access to the Rosary Sisters Hospital in Irbid, Jordan, to Hamshari Hospital close to Ein el Hilweh and Mieh Mieh refugee camps in south Lebanon, and to Safad Hospital in Beddawi refugee camp in northern Lebanon, all of which will serve as launching pads as we expand the program throughout the region.
